Why did I write this guide?
The short answer is that I wish I had this guide when I started the college application cycle with my daughter. I had no idea where to start and how to go about anything related to the college search process. I was lost. I eventually stumbled upon a few Facebook groups and over many months and countless hours reading comments in those groups and using Google, I learned what to do, when to do it, and how to approach the admission process with my child. Because I realized that college admissions are very similar to marketing a product, except you have to market yourself. You need to stand out among the other applications out there. But that’s not all. You need to stay on top of deadlines, evaluate your chances for admission, stay organized, and decipher the ever-changing meaning of “test-optional”.
